Should I Stay or Should I Go Now?

April 15th, 2008

A friend was recently discussing with me the uncomfortable situation she encountered when she dropped off her child at another friend’s home for a birthday party.  The party host was a little put off that my friend did not stay for the two hour party.  This situation brought to light a very good question–When is it appropriate to drop your child off at a party and not stay?

Out of the Box Party’s experts say it is up to the guest and their own comfort level.  We always feel it is best to let your child give you some direction in these situations.  If it is a house party and your child is comfortable at this home and you are confident that your child will be safe and well cared for, by all means drop and run.  We caution–never arrive late to pick up your child.  That is just very bad manners.

If you arrive at a birthday party where you expected to just drop and run and you notice other parents are attending the festivities, feel free to proceed with your drop off plans.  It would be our advice to arrive back at the party a little earlier than you originally anticipated.  Arriving back to the party a little earlier will help smooth out any wrinkled feathers.

But what if your child wants you to stay and the host expects you to leave?  If it is just nerves on the part of your child, help them with the transition.  Walk them over to a friend, help them start a game or activity.  Ease out gracefully with little fanfare and let your child know exactly when you will be back.  Once again, don’t be late.

Remember, Out of Box Party makes hosting an excitiing, fun-filled birthday party for your child easy and afforable.  Logon today and check out all our Party Box Themes.  Use coupon code BG0408 when placing your order and save 5%.

Birthday Party Q&A

March 4th, 2008

We receive many questions here at Out of the Box Party regarding birthday party planning, birthday etiquette and the like.  We recently received a great question about the appropriate age to stop giving out goodie bags.  We posed this question to our Party Experts and this is what they had to say–”It is always nice to send your guests off with a little Thank You for attending your party.  After all, that’s what a party favor represents, just a token to show your appreciation that your guests took the time to celebrate with you.”  Our experts go on to say “…if you are celbrating a birthday by taking some children out for a special acitivity such as a movie, skating, arcade, etc. it is not necessay to distribute goodie bags, the activity itself is sufficient”.  Read the rest of this entry »

Too Much Content–Not Enough??

February 28th, 2008

As with many internet based businesses, Out of the Box Party struggles to maintain the right balance when it comes to web site content.  You can’t simply load your site with your key words or niche phrases.  You can’t have any duplicate content.  You can’t have too much content that you loose your target audience.  So how much is too much and how much is not enough?  Good question.

I don’t have the answer for you personally.  That’s why I differ to the experts.  Jason Pedley, a Freelance Copywriter, is one of those experts that I routinely seek out for assitance with my web site content.  In this quickly changing market of e-commerce, it is very difficult, actually impossible, to know it all.  I check out his blog on a regular basis because it is chock full of great advice and valuable insight.  Check out Words to the Wise, I bet you’ll find yourself visiting this favorite spot over and over again.
